Train the trainer: Waikato IV cannulation workshop, starts 27 September

Waikato District Health Board (WDHB) is providing an annual "Train the trainer" IV education workshop, with three virtual phone forums, to enable WDHB expert nurses to provide ongoing mentoring and advice to other nurses. This workshop is a result of a joint effort between Pinnacle MHN, Hauraki PHO and WDHB nurse leads to ensure there are expert IV resource staff working in primary care.

The target audience for the workshop are competent or expert IV cannulation nurses who have an employer-supported plan to train nurses in their own practice, or at other practices by arrangement. The workshop is designed to ensure those nurses are up to date with current best practice and cannulation techniques, and can then lead a development plan for other nurses.

The next workshop is 27 September, and pre-learning requirements must be completed beforehand on Ko Awatea LEARN. The first virtual forum (by phone) will follow prior to Christmas.

Further information on the workshop can be found in the flier here, and instructions for registering on Ko Awatea LEARN is here.

To register for the workshop and to outline your practice plan, contact Pinnacle MHN nurse lead Sally Newell:
