Brandi Hudson is Ngaati Maniapoto, Ngaati Rarua, Ngaati Pikiao and was raised on her whanau papakainga in the Maniapoto. She has had a diversified career in central and local government, corporate, Maori Economic Development, Treaty of Waitangi Settlements, Education, Sport and Health.

She has held executive leadership roles for the past 10 years and was the inaugural CEO for the Independent Maaori Statutory Board (IMSB) in Taamaki Makaurau/Auckland when the Board was established as part of the amalgamation of Auckland Council. Brandi led the Board’s secretariat providing advice for the Board members to participate in key decision making committees of the council. The focus of this work was on policy, legislation and planning and to promote the unique and distinctive identity of Maaori as being the point of difference to all other cultures in the world that assisted the council to promote Taamaki Makaurau globally.

Brandi is a passionate advocate for equity and equality and promoting Te Tiriti o Waitangi articles and principles to achieve quality outcomes for Maaori.

She is married to Associate Professor, Maui Hudson, they have two sons and a daughter and spend much of their time involved in various sports that their children play and returning home often to be with whanau in Otorohanga and Opotiki.
