Stephen French

 

General practitioner, practice owner and board member

Steve has been a general practitioner for the last 21 years and a teacher of young GPs for the last 20 years. He is currently the owner of Hillcrest Medical Centre in Hamilton.

He graduated from Otago Medical School and since qualifying has been based primarily in Hamilton. After working at Waikato Hospital for a couple of years, he travelled extensively overseas, experiencing a variety of different countries and cultures.

For 12 years Steve specialised in obstetrics until he had a family of his own and retired from obstetrics to devote more time to being a dad.

Steve has been an executive committee member since June 2007, serving as deputy chair for several years. He is also a board member of Midlands Health Network Limited and a trustee of Midlands Regional Health Network Limited.

Steve has previously been a member of the Pinnacle Quality Committee and was the chairman for the child and youth health service level alliance team.
