COVID vaccination payments

From 1 July 2026, Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand announced COVID vaccination payments would be transitioned from stand-alone COVID-19 contracts into PHO Services Agreement (PHOSA) that your practice holds with Pinnacle. This would bring COVID vaccinations under the same management agreement as childhood immunisations and flu.
Since then, practices have not been paid for COVID vaccination events events as entered in the Aotearoa Immunisation Register (AIR).
Te Whatu Ora has now confirmed the payment process will remain as before. COVID vaccination events will be extracted from AIR, with payment schedules sent to PHOs for on-payment to our practices.
Te Whatu Ora is preparing backdated schedules from 1 July 2026 and payments will follow once received.
