Easier access to Online GP Care
Published: 7 September 2026
Te Whatu Ora | Health NZ has enhanced its Online GP Care service to help people access timely healthcare when they cannot see their usual GP, need after-hours care, are travelling or cannot get a prompt appointment. The updated online tool makes it easier to compare participating providers, appointment options and prices and connect with an available GP by video.
Te Whatu Ora | Health NZ is also expanding access through pharmacies, rural health providers and other community organisations, including private spaces where people who face barriers to accessing online care can connect with a GP.
Recent subsidy changes also make Online GP Care free for children under 14, with reduced appointment costs for young people aged 14–17.
