Hauraki primary mental health therapy groups

Eligibility

To be eligible for this service, you need to be living in the Hauraki Coromandel area. 

Unfortunately you won't meet the eligibility criteria to access this programme if you:

  • are currently receiving secondary mental health services
  • have moderate to severe mental health issues
  • require crisis intervention
  • are currently receiving support from ACC sensitive claims.

Therapy group: Kōrero Mai, Let's Talk

This group, Kōrero Mai, Let's Talk, will suit you if you’d like the choice to attend a therapy group casually and you feel comfortable taking part in group activities. The focus of this group is to learn and practise mindfulness-based activities to improve your mental health wellbeing.

  • Thames: Thames Commuity Centre, Thursdays, 9-10am
  • Coromandel: CILT building, Wednesdays, 11.30am-12.30pm
  • Whangamatā: War Memorial Hall, Fridays, 11am-12pm
  • Paeroa: Paeroa Care House, fortnightly Tuesday, 10-11am

Korero Mai is held for 1 hour a week.

Week 1: Benefits of Mindfulness and Box Breathing (participating).

Week 2: Benefits of Mindfulness and describe using 5 senses (taste, sight, smell, sound, and touch).

Week 3: Benefits of Mindfulness and Attention Focus while engaging in functional activities.

Week 4: Benefits of Mindfulness and Visualization.

This group repeats every month.
