Te Ara Tupu supporting workforce development across Te Manawa Taki

A new regional workforce hub is helping connect primary and community healthcare kaimahi across Te Manawa Taki with training, funding and development opportunities.

Te Ara Tupu a Manawa Taki Workforce Hub is one of a number of regional workforce development services funded by Health New Zealand to strengthen the primary and community health workforce across the country.

The Te Manawa Taki Hub is co-led by Pinnacle Midlands Health Network and Te Puna Hauora Matua o Hauraki (Hauraki PHO), working alongside the region’s 11 PHOs and primary and community healthcare providers.

The Hub is focused on making workforce development opportunities easier to access, while building a stronger understanding of workforce needs across the region, including the needs of Māori and rural workforces and communities.

A number of opportunities are already underway, including planned care training for medical, nursing and allied health kaimahi, PRIME training for rural clinicians and cyber risk training for practice teams. Further workforce initiatives are expected to roll out over the coming months.

Pinnacle’s Regional Workforce Development Lead Veronique Gibbons is working with PHOs and providers across Te Manawa Taki to connect kaimahi with opportunities and gather local workforce insights.
