Sexual Assault Assessment and Treatment Service (SAATs)

Waikato SAATs provides a confidential and free service for people in the Waikato region who have experienced sexual harm. They welcome the chance to discuss how the service can support GPs and improve outcomes for victims of sexual harm. People aged 13 and over can access the service.

SAATs operates from a purpose-designed clinic, co-located with the Midlands Sexual Assault Support Service. A standard assessment takes 30-90 minutes and a forensic examination takes 2 to 4 hours. The service has a 24-hour on-call forensic examiner for clinicians to contact via the 0800 number. For non-urgent matters, contact the office by email or phone on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
